Quad Cities Anchor Heading East

WQAD-TV's Jason Fechner is leaving Illinois and moving to Indiana.  Fechner has been at the Quad Cities station since 2006, anchoring weekends first, then moving to weekday evenings. He's also been very involved in community service agencies, including the Salvation Army and Gilda's Club

Distinguished Service Award for Craven

A champion of Press Freedoms and Open Government was remembered Saturday for his service to the INBA.  A Distinguished Service Award was presented posthumously to James Craven, who was the INBA's attorney for many years.  Craven died in January.  The award was accepted by his son Don, who is currently the INBA's Legal Counsel.  The Cravens also received a proclamation from the Illinois State Senate, declaring April 25  as James Craven Day.

New Board Members Elected

The INBA membership elected two board members during its general meeting Saturday, April 25: Nora Baldner and Aaron Eades.  Nora is an Assistant Professor of Communication at Quincy University, and has 25 years experience as a reporter, anchor, assignment manager and news director at both Quincy TV stations.  Aaron is a MultiMedia Journalist at WCIA-TV in Champaign, where he has worked since his December 2014 graduation from Illinois State University.  Nora will serve the remainder of a term lasting until Fall 2016; Aaron will serve the remainder of a term lasting until Fall 2015.

Five Scholarships Awarded to Students

Five scholarships were awarded to students during the INBA Spring Convention in Normal, April 25. The scholarships are $1500 each, which is a new high in the INBA's history.
