Do you have a policy for using pictures on your website that you didn't take. For example, a candidate supplied a headshot or a government agency gives you permission to use a picture of one of its buildings from its website. What do you think?

Steve.Scott's picture

We use photos from various sources...including some news agencies with whom we have sharing agreements. But, no matter who takes the photo - whether it's a syndicated service or one of our own staffers - we always list a photo credit. That should immediately remove any question as to from where the photo came.

We do use government-supplied photos (mug shots, etc.)...but always credit them as described above.
