Board of Directors Election 2012 - Call for Candidates

In just over one month from now, we will hold elections for officers and directors. This year, all of the officer positions and four director positions are up for consideration.

We need your voice on our Board of Directors.
Positions and Responsibilities
Officer positions include President, Vice President, Executive Secretary, Treasurer, and Recording Secretary. You can find descriptions of those jobs on Officers serve for one year.
Directors represent the membership of INBA at large and serve on key committees in our organization. They serve for two-year terms.
The Board meets four times a year--- the Friday of each spring and fall convention, and typically on a Saturday in winter and summer. In addition, some business is conducted from time-to-time via e-mail.
Any voting member of INBA is eligible to run for either director or officer positions. This includes lifetime and retired members. While out-of-state, honorary, associate, and student members may not run for office, they may suggest others whom they think would be good candidates.
How to Run
Candidates for officer and director positions are self-nominated; in other words, you volunteer to run. You do not need to get someone else to nominate you. Instead, all you need to do is e-mail me at, and I'll put your name on the ballot. In order to appear on the printed ballot, I need to hear from you by Monday, September 17th. After that, you'll still be able to run, but your name will be added to the list of write-in candidates compiled on the day of the election.
Voting takes place at the INBA Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, September 22, 2012 in St. Louis. The meeting is held over the lunch hour at the INBA Fall Convention. While we encourage all members to come to the convention, you do not need to attend in order to run for office. Typically, each candidate is given a minute to explain his or her qualifications for the job; if you cannot attend, you may ask another member to speak on your behalf or read a prepared statement.
Again, I hope you'll consider serving INBA as a member of the Board of Directors. If you'd like to run for an office, or if you have questions about duties or the election process, please e-mail me at
Many thanks,
