Chicago Cubs Changing Stations

Radio broadcasts for the Chicago Cubs will be on a new station next season.  The Chicago Tribune reports that the Cubs signed a long-term deal with WBBM-AM 780.  Terms were not disclosed.  The official announcement is expected Thursday, June 5 in Chicago.
The Cubs’ broadcasts have been on WGN-AM 720 for nearly a century, but media blogger Robert Feder indicates that may not have been a financially profitable relationship in recent years, with WGN losing perhaps $6 million a year.
The on-air team of Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer will also make the move to WBBM for the broadcasts.
WBBM-AM 780 already carries Chicago Bears broadcasts.  The Chicago White Sox radio broadcasts are on CBS radio’s WSCR AM 670, under a contract that expires next year.
