Spring 2020 Convention

We have more exciting news about the upcoming spring convention (April 24-26, 2020) in Rockford!  We finally have a hotel set and we think the delay in details will be worth the wait!  The 2020 spring convention will be held at the brand new Embassy Suites by Hilton - Rockford Riverfront. And when I say brand new, I mean BRAND NEW!  The hotel does not even open until April 1, 2020, just three weeks before our convention.  It is a stunning property that has been restored from an old manufacturing building right on the Rock River in downtown Rockford.  It is as unique of a hotel as I have ever seen.  I got a behind-the-scenes tour last month and it is quite the sight to see.  I really think you are going to love it.

Mark Murray, NBC News' senior political editor, is confirmed as our keynote speaker!

Mark can regularly be seen on MSNBC and has made several appearances on Meet the Press.  Mark is also the editor of the networks First Read blog along with NBC Political Director Chuck Todd. Mark joined NBC News in 2003 and resides in Washington, D.C.  Mark will provide invaluable insight and a peek behind the curtain to NBC's comprehensive political coverage right in the middle of primary season.  Mark is a can't-miss speaker, especially in a presidential election year.

Yes, the room rates are a little more than usual.  It will be $129/night for a King Room and $149/night for a Queen Room.  However, each of these rooms are suites, meaning the bedroom is private from the living area and the living area has a sleeper sofa.  If people are looking for cost-effective ways to stay at this hotel, these rooms can absolutely be shared and costs cut in half.  It was even recommended by the hotel.  A full breakfast is included for every hotel guest and a 2-hour happy hour is also included for guests, free of charge.  You really do get a lot for your money.

INBA has fought very hard to get these room rates down to a manageable rate for our members.  We know money is tight for journalists and many of you are coming on your own dime.  Normal room rates will be running $189/night, so we were able to significantly get that rate reduced for you.  We hope you will join us-the hotel experience and the plans we have for the convention will certainly be worth it!

We are still working on programming for the entire weekend, but our goal is to make this convention political-centric based on the time our convention falls.  We will be fully into primary season and may even be close to knowing our two candidates for President of the United States.  Our goal is to provide you programming that will help you excel in your political reporting for the remainder of 2020 and moving forward.
